Moyes Out ( Released )
Posted the same last year. Nothing has changed, except win don't win matches anymore.
I'm fed up, we can do much better

Just been told I was making “assumptions” for saying Moyes’s lack of faith and judgment had been exposed with the Downes loan. Was going to mention Benrahma and Kehrer as well but just gave up - the “expert” was clearly not interested that kind of fact.

No. But one explanation is that they are just fucking idiots.

But that doesnt explain our fans who seem to think Moyes can do no wrong either...

It's pure and simple laziness coupled with their own prejudices.

Its easier to say "Moyes has done a great job" for a club that hasn't won a trophy in years, rather than do some proper research and have a well articulated knowledgeable opinion.

Then they get the hump when the fans don't support their lazy narrative. That's when you then get it becoming toxic with the ex-pro's and pundits moving into the zone of "Who do you think you are?" and "What do you know about football?"

It really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone seeing Moyes walk straight into a job at TalkSport the day his contract expires with us.

Re: Moyes Out ( Released )
What really gets me is not the pundits as they dont know any better they dont watch us they dont research the stats and dont care... but our own fans who think we should be grateful and praise Moyes for restoring our club from being a yoyo club to the stability we have now, when we fought relegation last season and have a worse squad now than when he joined..

I just dont understand what they are seeing and why this love for a man who treats us with disdain.. and then when you point out all his shortcomings all they say is oh you didnt enjoy winning that trophy!!!!

Wow, I totally agree with the last 10 or so posts down to the “handbags” name calling of those with low self esteem :-)

The Moyesball brand had unravelled in early 2022 some 2 seasons and more ago. The Euro campaign it was still effective as teams outside the Prem simply don’t play against extreme, low block, countering teams any more. That masked 2 and a half seasons of decline in the league. So in addition to being very hard to watch Moyes approach just wasnt effective on a consistent basis anymore. Those wins this season before Xmas were really quite astonishing in many ways. Areola was outstanding and the “margins” definitely went our way. But never sustainable but glad we were in good shape points wiseor we would have been in relegation trouble based on our 2nd half of the season results.

Russ’s mention of a class system is a good way to describe how the media narrative works.

Based on history in part but also on the “gravy train” of TV subscriptions world wide and club revenues. The pundits, media, ex players and managers etc all make a living from the game and its easier for them to have the predictability and to laud the rich teams and appeal to millions of United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arse/ Spurs fans in Asia, the USA etc

Dont want teams like Chelsea out of the mix too long and need United back in that top 4.

Leicester a nice one off and Villa ok but not top 4 too often. And little West Ham all need to “know their place”. Just not enough supporter TV subs :-)

Re: Moyes Out ( Released )
Good summary, Rossal.

It just highlights how poor we've played for the majority of the season, and probably last 2 years.

I hate Chelsea, with a passion, but I felt hardly anything after they recently tonked us. That's because I expected it. And I was going into every game like that because of the way we play.

Re: Moyes Out ( Released )
Yep agree about shit housing wins, very rarely come away thinking we played very well there, maybe Brentford, Newcastle at home was decent first half but we was shit 2nd, same as Villa at home.

Re: Moyes Out ( Released )
The win against Brentford cruising at 4-1 yet sat back and got our goal peppered, they could have easily got back into it. Scored one could easily have been more.

Rossal 11:10 Tue May 14
Re: Moyes Out ( Released )
Yep, was it the 0-0 with Brighton at home where they had something like 30 shots and Areola made 11 saves was it?

Re: Moyes Out ( Released )
Rossal, there was that Arsenal away win where Arsenal created far more chances than in their 6-0 thrashing of us at home, for us to get two shithouse goals……yet we got told we defended brilliantly….they opened us up at will and just missed their chances….

Well articulated. Sums it up perfectly for me.

I would also like to add that I think alot of the pundits issue with West Ham simply comes from the class system within football.

We have had a few exciting years under Moyes what with Euro football and some good league finishes. But that's all ingrained within exactly what you described.

But they look down at us - Playing in Europe, not fighting relegation, winning a Euro trophy and they see us grumbling at the detail and the true context and it forms a question in their head which is "Who do you think you are?".

It's all based around a 'how dare you want more" position of authority. I mean, little old West Ham - Getting out their station demanding European football, good results in the league AND exciting entertaining football.

I can't help seeing Harry Secombe in Oliver - "More! You want more?" when all Oliver Twist wanted was some more gruel.

Re: Moyes Out ( Released )
I dont think i've ever seen us have as big as a shithouse season as this one. Finishing top half is extremely fortunate and deceiving when you look at our wins.

Chelsea - played shit, they missed a pen and we shithoused a win 2nd half

Brighton - Thought we played well, but was a counter attack masterclass and we didnt touch the ball much. Remeber facing a barrage of shots last half hour or so

Luton - Set piece goals i think, then very lucky JWP didnt give away a pen right at the end

Sheff Utd - Played alright but theyre shit

Notts Forest - Played alright, had to rely on a winner near the end

Burnley - Played shit, shithoused 2 goals at the end

Spurs - Played shit first half, shithoused 2 goals second half

Wolves - Good performance, one of the best all year

Man Utd - Did ok, 2 mistakes from them gave us the goals

Arsenal away - Played well, but again bit shithouse.....faced a barrage of shots yet again

Brentford - Probably the best performance of the season

Everton - Played shit, shithoused it at the end

Wolves - Awful first half, shithoused the 2nd half.....a penalty and a goal direct from a corner ffs

Luton - First half awful, good 2nd half

So whats that, 5 wins that were deserved this season max? Roll on august!

Re: Moyes Out ( Released )
The 'careful what you wish for crowd' - particularly the pundits - probably watch three West Ham games a season: when we lose to Man City, when we upset Arsenal and when we're indifferent against Man Utd. Because they're the only occasions when Garth Crooks and Alan Monotone et al are asked to watch us as part of their job.

So, in all fairness to them, they have none of the context of watching Moyesball that we do. Because they are generally lazy fuckers who 'follow' us only by newspaper headlines and results. They read a headline about a draw against Spurs and think: Spurs = bigger revenues than West Ham and therefore that means West Ham/Moyes have overperformed. Because they are generally a bit thick and think football is played on a spreadsheet.

They don't have to pay expensively to watch a side 'enjoy' little more than a quarter of the game's possession - even against clubs like Brighton, or watch the terminally negative and unambitious "low block" with nine players hurling their bodies behind the ball and camped out on their own 18 yard box. And they don't realise that Moyes is happy for that to happen, and that it is all done by design. They think other teams have 'just' outpassed us.

The CWYWFs don't have to endure Moyes' lack of football ambition, his predictability, his robot-style tactics, draining of inventiveness (outside of the final third of the pitch), inability to develop youngsters, and inability to rotate possession. They don't have to watch our #9 starved of the ball, outside the area, all day and chasing hopeless lost causes and full backs into the 'channels' for 98 minutes every weekend.

They don't have to watch his ludicrously selective DATA-driven approach - the one that had him criticising his £35m Italy #9 for not working hard enough. You know, the #9 who Liverpool couldn't handle this season.

And they don't realise that we had that every weekend - and often twice a week - every week for four and a half years. It has been draining watching David Moyes' West Ham because we are so out of touch with modern football.

I wish him all the best in the future - genuinely. It was never anything personal with Moyes. His moment on the pitch with his dad in Prague made him human again. Because I genuinely thought we were managed by an early, shit AI programme before that. He drained the soul from football.

I hope Lopetegui restores at least some of it. Have my doubts, but will always give any West Ham manager a chance. So let's look forward.

Re: Moyes Out ( Released )
It wasn't hard to imagine what would happen in the second half of the season, there was enough of us on here predicting that not having the football for 70% of games was not sustainable throughout the season.

Taking Brighton in isolation, we scored 3 great goals, which was nice, but every other second of the game was an excruciating watch. They absolutely peppered us, Areola produced one of the best goalkeeping performances you'll ever see.

This is all been said enough, but let's not re-write history pretend that our 2024 form has been a shock. It's not, that's been our form for 2 years, we were just outrageously lucky the first half of this season.

Brighton was great. A rare win against them, a team I dislike. Coming while we were still basking in post Prague glory. It was hard to imagine in swinging the other way to completely dire, though we knew it would happen before long.

Re: Moyes Out ( Released )
Balto - Funny you should say that as Brighton away was a real highlight for me this season, loved seeing how we picked them off at pace on the break with our fans banked behind that goal, but of course that type of play isn't sustainable over a season.

Balto 5:48 Tue May 14
Re: Moyes Out ( Released )
This year we have the lowest possession stats of all the teams in the EPL. 27%.

When we beat Brighton away, 3-1 at the beginning of the season we had three break away chances and scored from all three. It was a terrible watch. The second we stopped winning and played the same the wheels came off.
